34 weeks, 5 days: Oct. 8, 2018
Baby # 3
David and I went to my 34-week appointment this morning for the ultrasound when we see all measurements of Baby # 3.
Fetal heart beat was good / normal: 144 bpm.
The ultrasound technician said that the baby was measuring a few days ahead of schedule. (My due date is Nov. 14th.)
Overall, the baby is measuring in the 50th percentile for her body parts. The technician did mention that the head was a little larger than normal, but nothing to worry about. She asked if this runs in the family, and it seems to on my side. I always had to adjust my hockey helmet a little more than my teammates, and Max's head measured large on his ultrasounds.
My delivery doctor followed up with me on the ultrasound photos and data, and said that this baby is measuring "medium." She said it will likely be a baby bigger than Reagan but smaller than Max when she is delivered.
I now go to the doctor for weekly appointments instead of monthly and bi-weekly like over the summer.
The doctor says that I can plan to do a non-induction spontaneous delivery in November, unless she notices any issues in the upcoming weekly appointments. I was induced with both Reagan (received false positive test results on the AFP blood test) and with Max.
The doctor likes the name that we picked out for Baby Girl, and said that she has made all four of her children watch the film "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" because she thinks it's the greatest movie ever made.
I'm doing okay...much better than in the first five months. I still feel nauseous from time to time and definitely more light-headed and dizzy. I needed to rest on the couch at church for 20 minutes last Sunday during the songs and sermon because I felt like I was going to faint.
My legs hurt much more during this third pregnancy than with the first two. I have a consultation appointment with the "vein doctor" to talk about the physical pain and cosmetic disfiguration of my legs thanks to the numerous varicose veins that I have gained since I became pregnant last March.
Right now, my black compression pants are my best friend and I wear them daily. It's been a challenge to find enough professional "teacher outfits" that can accommodate my new black leggings accessory so that, (A) my kids and colleagues don't notice that I wear them every day, and (B) I don't faint from overheating in wearing black leggings during this unusually hot late summer / early fall season in my last months of pregnancy.
David goes to Florida for a golf trip and his PGA Level 3 workshop for two weeks in mid-October, so I'm hoping that nothing out of the ordinary will happen in this homestretch of the pregnancy. It's also my busiest time of the school year with Quarter 1 student comments and final competition meets for the boys' and girls' cross country teams.
