New pictures: 1.5 weeks old

Reagan Amy Haase ("Rah Rah")
Born: Monday, July 28th at 8:54 PM
Weight: 6 lbs. 6 oz.
Length: 19 3/4 in.

Nobody wants to hear all the details about my birth story, so since it's been a week since I posted about Reagan, I figured that I'd cut to the chase and just post a bunch of photos.  I mean, that's what people really want to look at, instead of reading a bunch of nonsense from me.

Just a few observations in Reagan's first 1.5 weeks of life:

1. On Sunday night/Monday morning when we first arrived at the hospital for my induction, there were numerous storm and tornado warnings in Knoxville.  It reminded us  of our wedding day/night in Culver, Indiana, when we were threatened with storm and tornado warnings, too.  Good things seem to happen on stormy nights!

2. Reagan's middle name, Amy, is our tribute to our two good friends both named Amy here in Knoxville who have played important roles in our lives since we first moved down to Tennessee in 2010.  We thought it was crazy that, out of our 4 total friends that we had in Knoxville when we started living here, that 2 of them were named Amy.  We also liked the acronym RAH for her nick name "Rah Rah" from the first letters of her first, middle and last names.

3. We went to the hospital at Midnight Sunday night, and I finally delivered Reagan at nearly 9:00 Monday night.  They messed up on my epidural and needed to "redo" it, which finally helped with the pain from 10:00 AM-4:00 PM until contractions got pretty bad in the early evening and I was downing the cherry ice slurpees and trying to distract myself with HGTV shows in the hospital room until it was "go time."  Finally, I was fully dilated at 8:30 PM, and then from there, it was a very easy delivery.  The nurses and doctors said that I was "a good pusher" and it really didn't hurt at that point. I must have really prepared myself mentally for the fact that giving birth would be the worst pain that I would ever feel in my life, and it actually was not that bad! Of course, with some help from the epidural.

4. Reagan hiccups A LOT... She hiccups once, sometimes twice daily.  She also sneezes, usually 3 times in a row.  Although, Reagan does not sneeze quite as much as her Grandma Susan, who is known for always sneezing 7 times in a row.

5. Reagan went to her first pediatric appointment on Aug. 1st, just a few days after her July 28th birthday.  She was healthy overall, but had a low birth weight of 5 lbs. 10 oz., putting her in the 5th percentile and was on the borderline of having jaundice.  The doctor asked for her to come a week later to check on her weight.  We took Reagan back to the pediatrician on Aug. 7th, and the nurse was very happy with her weight gain!  She weighed 6 lbs. 3 oz. at this second appointment, almost back up to her birth weight of 6 lbs. 6 oz. And the doctor said there was no sign of jaundice.

David and I want to extend a special thanks to the grandparents (Fred, Nancy, Susan and Don) for making trip down to Knoxville, TN.  We don't live super close to David's parents in northern Indiana nor my parents in Wisconsin, so we appreciate their presence in the first few weeks of Reagan's life.  Also, thank you to our siblings and significant others who are now the new aunts and uncles of Reagan for their well wishes through phone calls, texts and emails, and also the messages from the rest of our family and friends.  We greatly appreciate the love!

We are on our way out to the hospital Sunday at Midnight!

I'm in the early stages of labor, drinking a cherry slushy and brushing up on my slang and dirty words in Spanish thanks to this Cosmopolitan magazine from Alli B.
