One-month Doctor's Appointment

Reagan went to the pediatrician for her 1-month appointment this afternoon.  He said that she was "healthy and gorgeous."

Reagan weighed 9 pounds, putting her in the 25-30th growth percentile.  She measured 20 3/4 inches, putting her in the 20th percentile.  (They spelled her name wrong on the sheet that they gave to me on our way out.)  Her head circumference was  14 3/8 cm, and the pediatrician was happy with that measurement.  These are HUGE percentile jumps, considering that Reagan only measured in the 5th percentile for her weight and height when she was born on July 28th.

The pediatrician said that Reagan is "growing well" and that I'm "doing a good job."  Whew!  That feels REALLY good to hear a comment like that from her pediatrician!  :)

He said that Reagan will start “social smiling” at 6-8 weeks.  Social smiling is when Reagan smiles in response to a cue from others, and not just the rare grins that she expresses in these first few weeks of her life.

Reagan will return back in a month (Sept. 29th) for her 2-month check-up when she will get several vaccination shots.

It's such a good feeling to hear from the pediatrician that your baby is healthy!  As the "worry wart" that I am, I even asked about the extra skin growth on her upper gum in her mouth, and the pediatrician said, "Don't even worry about that now."  Reagan is a super healthy baby, and her good report from her pediatrician appointment today makes all of the constant late night feeding and diaper changes worth it!
